Cosima Wagner Diaries

The King did not receive the address of the clericals, [1] thanked his ministry, and retained it. Great rejoicing about that; people even speak of making an illumination. In the evening, Madame Wesendonck arrived, and we received her at the railway station.

[1] Introduced by Josef Edmund Jörg (1819-1901), Bavarian politician, opponent of Bismarck and the unification of the German Reich.

Revised English translation by Jo Cousins.
