Cosima Wagner Diaries

Many errands; rehearsal of the Valkyries and the men’s ensemble; farewell to Herr Niemann — a great relief! … At 3 o’clock, Father arrives; he looks well and is glad to be with us. Herr Niemann still here, comes to the evening rehearsal; behaves in such a sadly foppish manner and is so insolently bold that R. can scarcely contain himself and, in a fury, vents his anger at the others on account of him. Added to this, Herr Unger is pitiful in the second act of “Götterdämmerung”.

[1] Meant mistakenly as “Friday.”
