R. read to me the other morning, while I was yet in bed, from Parzival; he said we must seize the morning, for the day itself would bring naught but misfortune! –– And indeed to-day he receives a letter from our friend Feustel, who tells him that the provisions of the Cabinet Treasury render the promised aid virtually illusory. In consequence R. resolves to turn to the Emperor; first, however, I am to ask Mimi. In the evening, in Goethe’s Annals; enviable man, in every regard! …
