Home to Wahnfried, somewhat weary, yet well content; Siegfried all the while lively, cheerful, alert—“Papa, that is your house”, he cried, as we quitted Prague, pointing truly to the very house of Count Pachta [1] in Breite Straße, where R. had once lodged, and which had been named to him but yesterday. Many letters awaited us; one from Herr Betz, not precisely of much discernment; Niemann wishes to sing the three parts, which, as he reports, ‘impresses’ his friend. Sketch of the first decoration for Vienna—turned out most poorly; R. dissatisfied with this work.
[1] Johann Joseph Count Pachta, head of the State Conservatory in Prague, lived at Pravonin Castle and owned a house in Prague; first acquaintance made with RW, while in Prague with his mother and sisters, was in 1826, renewed acquaintance in 1832; by 1834 the Count had already died, contact then with his natural daughters Jenny and Auguste Raymann.
