Cosima Wagner Diaries

Spoke concerning the possibilities of securing support for our cause – Pringsheim[1]? Niemann? … Dispatched copies of “Götterdämmerung” (to Mimi, the King, Standhartner). In the evening, R. thwarted a surprise I had planned (two dogs), which saddened me and cast a melancholy over the whole of the evening.

[1] Alfred Pringsheim (1850–1941) was a mathematician. He bought three patronage certificates and was present at the rehearsals in 1876 at the age of 25. At Angermann’s, he became violent toward a Wagner critic and was never invited to Bayreuth again.
