Drove to the theatre with R. and the children; young Fritz Brandt was at work in the fly tower, which made quite a pleasant impression. In the evening, our good Macedonian man Lalas came with his brother, a merchant from Salonika. – A few days ago, I received a letter from the Duchess of Lesignano,[1] who enclosed a recommendation Rossini had written for me ten years ago. This Duchess (Madame Stolz) now desires a proscenium box for the performances! … A truly astounding success of “Lohengrin” in London (in Italian) is being reported.
