Cosima Wagner Diaries

Arrival of Brückwald, meeting at the theatre, where R. wishes me to be present; it is a pleasure for him only if I am there, otherwise everything is a torment for him. Lighting question, mystical space, curtain, and ceiling are discussed, Brandt contributing in the most brilliant and decisive manner. The board of directors takes care of it! – – –

In the afternoon, a letter from Mr Director Jauner of Vienna, stating that he has secured the royalties starting in August (7 percent). In the evening, the gentlemen Brückwald, Brandt, and the engineer Staudt[1] join us.

[1] The company Emil Staudt based in Frankfurt handled the gas installation in the festival hall.
